  • Position:  Lifeguard Supervisor   

    Position Summary:  This is a part-time position.  Primary duty is to ensure the safety of our citizens, their families and anyone that visits the pool(s).   Also, ensures that all enjoy a safe and fun environment.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Supervises and provides surveillance of swimmers during pool hours, special events or training sessions.
    • Responds to emergency situations.
    • Assists in communicating emergency situations.
    • Administers and coordinates emergency first aid, as necessary.
    • Enforces the rules and regulations of the pool/park.
    • Performs generalized cleaning/sanitizing using established practices and procedures, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and empty/cleaning wastebaskets to maintain neat and orderly appearance.
    • Scheduling and managing work assignments of lifeguards under supervision.
    • Must report any and all issues pertaining to maintenance and upkeep immediately.
    • Inspects all equipment for the safety of the employee(s) and general public.Making sure all surfaces are kept as dry as possible.
    • Provide support to summer recreation programs in Rankin and McCamey, as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Upton County Commissioner’s Court

    Requirements:

    • No Experience required; training provided.
    • Requires a clean criminal background and drug screening.
    • Must be a resident of Upton County
    • Must be 16+ years of age.
    • Ability and willingness to achieve Certification in First Aid, CPR and Lifeguard Training
    • Must be flexible regarding scheduling, including weekend and holiday availability.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to swim 50 yards at a time.
    • Sit and stand for extended periods of time.
    • Capable of prolonged exposure to hot and humid environments
    • Able to use proper lifting techniques.
    • Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

    Position:  McCamey Youth Center  

    Position Summary:  This is a part-time position.  Primary duty is to provide a safe, fun-filled environment for teens in McCamey.  During the summer, while both school districts are on break, this position will assist with summer programs in both Rankin and McCamey.                                                                                                                

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Supervising teens inside and outside of the McKinney Teen Center
    • Making sure Permission forms have been completed for teens attending the center.
    • Enforce teen center rules and regulations and ensures the safety of the teens at the center.
    • Interact with teens and provide assistance
    • Lock/Unlock building(s) and securing building(s) when facilities are not in use and report any unauthorized occupant(s). 
    • Performs generalized cleaning/sanitizing using established practices and procedures, including but not limited to dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, empty/cleaning wastebaskets.
    • Provide support to summer recreation programs in Rankin and McCamey, as needed
    • Provide support to little league programs in Rankin and McCamey, as needed

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Performs manual tasks, including moving furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis
    • Other duties as assigned by the Upton County Commissioner’s Court

    Requirements:

    • Requires a High School Diploma or GED
    • Requires a clean criminal background
    • Must be a resident of Upton County
    • Must be 18+ years of age

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to maneuver hands to use necessary equipment
    • Able to raise arms to clean overhead.
    • Able to bend knees.
    • Able to use proper lifting techniques.
    • Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
