  • Department:   Upton County Road & Bridge -McCamey Golf Course Maintenance

    Position Summary:            Must be able to complete various routine grounds keeping and equipment operating tasks in the maintenance of the Upton County Golf Course and performing related general labor functions.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Maintains golf course by mowing, trimming, top dressing, treating turf, maintenance of bunkers, hole changing, hedge trimming and general maintenance.
    • Operating golf course equipment, tractors, loaders, backhoes, and other large equipment.
    • Mowing of greens, tees, aprons and approaches to greens, roughs, and other areas of the golf course

     

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Performs generalized maintenance and safety checks on equipment, including, refueling; greasing; changing filters; checking and changing oil; tires; other equipment and vehicle components: and, operates various hand and power tools in the performance of routine maintenance duties.
    •  Performs manual tasks, including: verifying greens, vertices tees and greens, roughs, and other areas of the golf course.  Preparing and planting sod and seed to greens, tee and fairways as assigned.
    • Ability to perform a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled golf course maintenance duties.
    •  Operates equipment in fighting wildfires.  Performs flood control duties, as required.   Other duties as assigned within the scope of this Department.
    • Generalized maintenance on Upton County properties.

    Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to work in cold weather, windy conditions, and hot summer days; works around noisy conditions, such as heavy equipment, air compressors and trenchers.

      Education:

    • Requires a High School Diploma or GED

      Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to get into a machine such as: a Motor grader, Dozer, Compactor, Dump Truck or Water Truck.
    • Able to raise arms to grab handles; lift knees to step up on machine; and, maneuver hands to grip handles.
    • Able to hear and see in front and sides.
    • Able to bend knees.
    • Able to maneuver hands to work controls and steer.
    • Able to use proper lifting techniques.
    • Must be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally and/ or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/ or 25 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

    Special Conditions:

    Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.   Additional Texas Driver’s License Classifications may be required. Other physical requirements and special considerations may apply
