  • JOB OPENING FOR:

    Deputy Elections Administrator in the Upton County Elections Department.

    An experienced and proficient para-professional/professional capable of performing a full range of duties in a high-paced, progressive, and demanding work environment is being sought for the position of Deputy Elections Administrator in the Upton County Elections Department. 
     
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS.

    * Graduation from high school.

    * Three to five years of experience in secretarial, administrative, paraprofessional, office management, and general technical/electronics knowledge applicable to a professional office.

    * Capable of learning to provide procedural and technical support services in preparation, organization, and conduct of County supervised elections.

    * Able to learn complex-level elections codes; voter registration software programs i.e. mapping, redistricting; voter files maintenance procedures; voter list management; election judge training and certification; and, to achieve competency in use of technology such as touch screens, laptops, printers, and associated software. 
     
    EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS.

    * Four years of progressively responsible clerical experience

    * Knowledge of Office practices and procedures, current computer programs (Microsoft programs—MS Word, Excel spreadsheet, or other Office applicable software); proper use of English language and basic math skills.

    * Ability to plan, coordinate, and schedule work to meet strict, daily deadlines; read, learn, comprehend, interpret, and implement election laws; communicate effectively orally and in writing; promote efficient, professional service to the public and other public agencies

    * Experience leading or supervising staff, and experience interpreting and applying regulations is highly desirable.

    * Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, computer skills, and, ability to achieve deadlines while working on various tasks.

    JOB OPENING FOR:

    Support/Secretarial  Staff for Adult and Juvenile Probation Department

    LOCATION:

    Rankin, Texas 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Applicants must posses a High School Diploma and a valid Drivers Licenses  with Liability Insurance.  Must Posses clerical skills and working knowledge of computers.  Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.  Must be able to work independently, multi-task and posses skills to effectively communicate in writing and orally.  Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check.

    DUTIES:

    Assist and support the Probation Office, the Chief Probation Officer and Administrative designees in the daily overall functions of the adult and Juvenile Probation Department/Office.  Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: typing, filing, data entry and extraction, fee collection and receipting, fee reconciliation, answering phones and daily mail collection and deposit.  Additional duties may include, but are limited to the following:  providing transportation for adult and juveniles (like gender) to placement facilities, urinalysis collection (like gender), day and overnight travel outside of and within  the department's jurisdiction to assist the department and or attend relevant training, attendance at juvenile and adult court proceedings, and documentation of all pertinent direct contacts with juvenile and adult offenders and their collaterals.  Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Adult/Juvenile Probation Officer.

    SALARY:

    JOB OPENING FOR:

    Community Supervision Office/Juvenile Probation Officer

    LOCATION:

    Big Lake, Texas 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    A minimum of a bachelor's degree conferred by and institution of higher education accredited by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.  One year of Graduate study (18 hours) or 1 year of full-time casework experience.  Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check.

    DUTIES:

    Supervise a caseload of adult offenders placed under community supervision and juveniles placed under juvenile probation.  Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Adults-conduct pre/post sentence reports, enforce orders of the court and monitor offender's compliance with conditions of community supervision, conduct office and field contacts, urinalysis, prepare referrals for services and programs to address criminogenic needs, conduct assessments and supervision plans, report violations to the court, maintain case files and chronological reports/documentation.  Juvenile-supervise and counsel juvenile probationers and their parents with the objective of resolving problems and improving behavior,  conduct office, home and school visits, assessments, referrals, case plans, and case staffing meetings.  Provide transportation to placement facilities, document all contacts and prepare required reports.  Monitor progress and work to improves behavior and resolve problems.  Maintain on call schedule.  Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Adult/Juvenile Probation Officer.

    JOB OPENING FOR:

    Upton County Airport Manager

    LOCATION:

    McCamey, Texas

    REPORTS TO:

    Upton County Judge Dusty Kilgore

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    This part time position is responsible  for the operation, administration, and maintenance of the Upton County Airport, located in McCamey, Texas

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

    1. Provides quality service to all users and clients of the airport.
    2. Manage Hangers, and tenants inside hangers
    3. Prepare and administer the airport annual budget.
    4. At the direction from the County Judge and Commissioners Court, develop and implement ongoing operation goals and policies for the airport.  Update airport rules, regulation, and minimum standards as required.  Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with County, City and FAA regulations.
    5. Manage capital improvement projects, including planning projects, issuing specifications, analyzing bids, selecting contractors, monitoring construction or improvements projects.
    6. Ensure public and operational safety and security at the airport; including coordination with Upton County Sheriff's Office and Fire Departments. 
    7. Manage all grant relate activities.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.  Able to use general office equipment, and word processing and spreadsheet programs.

    Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; prepare and present accurate and reliable reports, understand and follow policies, procedures and instructions; projects cost and expenditures; coordinate numerous functions to achieve time-sensitive deadlines; maintain effective working relationships with the airport tenants, contractors, Commissioners Court, City and County Officials, the FAA, State agencies, the general public, and  numerous other entities.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

    Wile performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls.  The position requires  mobility.  Duties involve moving material weighing up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis, and moving about uneven terrain at the airport.

    This position works under the general guidance and direction of the County Judge, but is granted extensive exercise of independent judgement  and initiative.

    Pay will depend on qualifications and experience, this is a part time position and will not include Upton County benefits
