  • Job Title:  Road & Bridge Operator

     

    Upton County is hiring for the position of Full-Time Road & Bridge Operator.  The individual must be hard working, dependable, and must live in Upton County and have maintained a residence in the County for one year or more.

     

    Immediate Supervisor: Cody Owens, Commissioner Pct. 2

     

    Beginning salary - $22.55 and health benefits.

     

    *Work evaluations will be given every three months and raises given accordingly.

     

    Education: Must have a High School Diploma or GED.

     

    General Description:

    • Operates various pieces of equipment used in maintenance of roads, such as: 18-Wheel Trucks; 10- Wheel Trucks; Front-end loaders; Dozers; Pickups: Cutting and Welding; Motor Graders; Compactors; hauling materials; and hauling equipment to work sites.
    • Generalized maintenance on Upton County properties, and maintenance on Rodeo Arenas, Rodeo Grounds, Golf Courses, Cemeteries, Baseball Parks, and County Parks.

     

     

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Must be possess a valid Class A CDL or a minimum of a Class B CDL and have a clean driving record. Must have a working knowledge of operations of various pieces of equipment used in maintenance of roads, such as 18-wheel trucks, 10-wheel trucks, front end loader, dozers, cutting and welding, motor graders, compactors and other various motor vehicles.

     

    Qualifications:  Experience in operations of heavy equipment of road maintenance, preferred.  Ability to lift, bend, and use proper lifting techniques.  Able to maneuver hands to work controls and steer.  Able to use legs to lift 60lb sacks.  Must be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or 25 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. 

     

    Must pass a drug test and background check.
