Welcome to Upton County, Texas

 STRUCK-OFF PROPERTY BIDS

If you would like to purchase one of the struck-off properties, submit your written bid to the Upton County Commissioners' Court, Box 482, Rankin, Texas, 79778 (or you may hand-deliver the sealed bid to the County Judge's office at the Courthouse in Rankin), and mark "Bid for Struck-off Property" on the sealed envelope. In your letter, state the property ID number and the legal description of the property you're bidding on, the amount you wish to bid, and your address and phone number. Check to make sure the ID number matches the legal property description. All bids must include a cashier's check or a money order payable to Upton County Appraisal District for the total amount of the bid, plus the $25.00 filing fee. Please indicate on the letter the bid amount separate from the $25.00 filing fee. Unsuccessful bidders will receive their uncashed cashier's check or bank money order immediately following opening of bids.

Statutory Rights of Redemption: Bidder, please note that the owner has two (2) years to redeem homestead properties and mineral interests. All other properties have six (6) months.

PROSPECTIVE PURCHASERS SHOULD MAKE A TITLE SEARCH. SOME OF THE PROPERTIES MAY HAVE LIENS AGAINST THEM WHICH PURCHASER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING.

Attorneys for the Upton County Appraisal District will record the deed in purchaser's name, and send the deed to purchaser. The purchaser will be required to pay a deed filing fee of $25.00 (i.e., if you bid $500, make your check for $525). The county reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

AFTER EACH COMMISSIONERS' COURT, THIS LIST CAN CHANGE.

It’s the legal description that is binding. Before you bid, check with the Appraisal District's office, and they can show you actually where the property is located so you can determine from the map that you are bidding on what you actually want. The attorneys for the Appraisal District determine deeds by the legal description.
